CASE STUDY

E Commerce Management

CSA and grocery ecommerce that respects harvest, not infinite stock

Orchard Boxes oversold strawberries every June. We rebuilt inventory as harvest lots with cut-offs, substitutions, and a box builder that cannot promise fruit that is not in.

The operational problem

The theme assumed warehouse stock. A farm has a morning estimate and an afternoon reality.

Refunds and angry pickup lines in peak season. Staff dread the software they were told would help.

What was breaking down

  • Infinite stock on perishable SKUs
  • No substitution rules customers can see
  • Pickup lists that did not match packed boxes

How Striders Tech approached it

We made inventory a lot with a harvest date and a hard cut-off, then designed substitutions as a first-class checkout choice.

What we built

  • Lot-based inventory
  • Visible substitution options
  • Pickup and delivery waves that match pack-out
  • Morning freeze on SKUs that did not come in

Results the team can measure

  • Oversell stopped on flagship berries
  • Pack-out lists match what the site sold that morning
  • Customers choose a sub instead of a surprise

Who this case study is for

THE TAKEAWAY

Good software doesn't add complexity. It removes it.
